2-Ingredient Peanut Butter “Frosting”
Get ready to whip up this kid-friendly topping in seconds, using just two ingredients!
Sometimes you just need a little topping! This incredibly easy “frosting” contains only two ingredients: water and peanut butter (and possibly some powdered sugar), and can be whipped up in mere minutes. Pipe it, spread it, use it as a dip…the possibilities are endless!
This peanut butter “frosting” is also Certified Kid Acceptable. For example, my preschooler currently does not like moist-appearing muffins/cakes/etc. We currently have some banana bread muffins with moist-feeling tops after being stored in the fridge. That texture? Unacceptable. Add some “frosting”? Heck yes! Sprinkles? Even better.
My toddler, on the other hand, just stole one of my testing bowls while I was working on this and devoured a significant amount of whipped PB with a spoon before I got to him.
Let’s Make It!
Start with a half cup of peanut butter (spray your measuring cup with cooking spray). Add 3/4 cup plus 1 Tablespoon (total of 13 Tablespoons) of water. I incorporated the water a little at a time to avoid too much mess. However you add the water, start by stirring very slowly. It will take a bit for the water to begin incorporating with the peanut butter, but it will happen.
Once things are somewhat incorporated, pull out your hand mixer and beat mixture until fluffy! Throw in a Tablespoon of powdered sugar if you’re looking for something on the sweeter side. Some peanut butters already have significant sugar, so this is a personal choice.
Store any extra on the counter covered with plastic wrap. Re-whip as needed, and use within a day or two.
